These creatures are versatile in their habitat selections, ranging from sandy beaches to rocky coasts. With a diet consisting primarily of fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods, harbor seals are skilled swimmers, often diving for up to 10 minutes to forage for food. They are generally solitary but can be found in loose aggregations during the breeding season, where females give birth to a single pup after approximately nine months of gestation.
